Title: Ginzburg-Landau superconductivity with exotic covariant derivatives

Abstract:

In (very preliminary) joint work with Roman Lutchyn we consider a U(1) gauge theory coupled to a p-wave order parameter r in which the connection used to define the covariant derivative DA(r) is allowed to spill slightly outside U(1) take values in sl(2,R). I will explain some mathematical reasons that this should have interesting consequences, why it might be physical, and finally, speculate about phenomenological signatures.
