The Department of Mathematics at University of California, Santa Barbara invites applications for two postdoctoral positions broadly in the area of applied and computational mathematics. The candidate is expected to have a good knowledge of numerical method development, with expertise in at least one of the following areas: analysis of quantum mechanical models, multiscale modeling, numerical eigenvalue problems, tensor networks, quantum physics, or materials science. Candidates with physics, chemistry, or materials science backgrounds who have extensive experience in terms of method development are also welcome.
The position is for one (1) year with possibility of renewal for additional years, up to three (3) years in total based on performance. The position has a teaching load of two (2) courses per year. Appointments to be effective July 1, 2020
To apply for this position(s), Applicants must have completed all requirements for a PhD (or equivalent) except the dissertation in Mathematics or a related field at the time of application, with the PhD conferred by the anticipated appointment start date.
