Mathematics graduate student Nancy Scherich's modern dance video, "Math Dance 2," won first place in this year's Art of Science competition. Art of Science encourages members of the UCSB community to show the artistic side of their field of study, as a way of engaging the public in what can otherwise be esoteric topics. Scherich's video illustrates three different but interrelated Mathematics disciplines -- algebra, geometry, and topology. This is the second time one of Scherich's videos has drawn notice; she previously won the Dance Your Ph.D. competition in November 2017.
