Title: Non-equilibrium topological matter
Abstract:
I will discuss two examples of topologically ordered systems out of equilibrium. In the first, the system is put through a Kibble-Zurek process which takes it into a parameter region with relatively less topological order. This problem exhibits scaling and a phenomenon we term string-net coarsening. In the second disorder causes the topological phase to many body localize and it can now exhibit topological order even when its thermal analog cannot.
