Abstract: A limit group is the limit under a sequence of conjugations of the Cartan subgroup in SL(3,R). We show there are 5 limit groups up to conjugacy. Each limit group is determined by an equivalence class of degenerate triangle. Using techniques of nonstandard analysis, we classify all of the limits of the diagonal Cartan subgroup in SL(3,R). These results may be extended to higher dimensions.
