Abstract: One often passes from a symmetry object, like a finite or compact group, to its category of representations (say over the complex numbers). It is natural to wonder if one can then reconstruct a group from its category of representations. In this talk, I will explore the answer to this question, known as Tannaka-Krein duality, and more.
